Thinking about Viral Videos-How accurate are the "Views" per video showed on youtube?

there used to be an app [or something along the lines of an app] so when you clicked on a youtube link it would just refresh many times to get views. Youtube took care of it and that is no longer possible. You cannot bot views anymore unless you manually refresh the page, wait for the page to load and refresh again. Nobody is dumb enough to waste the time to do this. Though one youtuber did manually refresh the page on his video to get a couple thousand "views", which youtuber I'm not sure. I don't think it was a very big youtuber or word would have gotten out.
