Why do Mayans still live in Middle America?

Well technically they don't. Mayans were people of a particular civilization that died out about 900bc. After they abandoned their major cities they spread north through Guatemala and southern mexico and some of their culture is still evident today. However most of their religious practices was destroyed with the onset of Catholicism brought with the Spaniards.
